ONWARD ISRAEL HILLEL AT THE GEORGE WASHINGTON UNIVERSITY
George Washington University Hillel Onward Israel is geared towards students from GW looking to live and work in Israel over the summer. Students spend part of the program living, experiencing, and interning in Israel and the other part of the program at home working with their employer remotely. This opportunity stretches to a variety of different internship placements and allows students to gain experience in an international community.
The George Washington University Hillel Onward program in the bustling start-up city of Tel Aviv offers you the opportunity to develop your professional future and build your resume through a high-level internship experience while also allowing you to spend time at home this summer. Participants will get to live with other GW students on top of travel and learn throughout the experience. In addition, there will be Israel Seminar Days throughout your time in Israel, amongst other activities devoted to learning about Israeli society, economy, technology and more, plus one weekend retreat with other Onward Israel participants from North America and the world. They have the freedom to live in and explore Israel in a more independent way than just visiting Israel on a trip focused on touring.

Internship Opportunities
Participants will be paired with an Israeli company or organization and assigned work projects to complete over the course of the program. It is expected that participants complete their work projects during the designated dates of the program and fully participate in all required enrichment and education activities. Note that there would be a shift in the type of work conducted after transitioning from in-person to remote work. We appreciate your flexibility and understanding as even within a specific field, the nature of your work will change throughout the program.
Cost
$775
Program cost includes housing, insurance, modest food stipend, ground transportation and program costs.
All participants are responsible for cost of and arranging their own flights and additional spending money. Flight should not be purchased until a decision has been made about the viability of the program.
The actual cost of the Onward Israel program is much higher and is subsidized up to 70% by Onward Israel, private donors, and local Jewish communities and institutions. Acceptance Criteria
– Applicants between 19-30 years old and not currently enrolled in high school, and studying at George Washington University
– Must meet MASA eligibility – identify as Jewish and have NOT spent 3 or more months in Israel as part of an educational or peer-program after high school (this includes semester abroad, gap year or any other MASA)*
– Fluent in English
– Valid Passport (passports must be valid for at least 6 months after the program end date)
– Previous participation in Taglit-Birthright Israel or other short term programs in Israel is encouraged but not required
This program is open to young adults from George Washington University with an interest in interning with the field that compliments what they are studying. This program is ideally for students who have had one previous short-term Israel experience – such as Birthright Israel or a teen travel program – and for students who have a strong desire to be part of a GW student cohort and meet other GW students.
